Find People by First Name

Doing a people search by name where you only know the first name of your lost friend, can be complex.

Searching for someone is as easy as 1-2-3 when you have all relevant data, first name, last name and city. This is not complex when the name is unique.

However, cleverer strategies must be utilized to limit your search results if the name is a quite common name or if you only happen to know the first name of the person you are trying to locate.

The best tool is your memory.

However brief the encounter, people usually reveal something besides their first name. Try to recall if this person said something about where he or she works, whether or not he or she has relocated, a favorite location or restaurant, organizations with which this person has a membership to or other facts.

Whatever other information made the person interesting enough to remember are the tidbits of information that will lead you to your friend.

The second resource is to use networking strategies.

Ask others who was with you when you met this person. Maybe they had a chance to talk to your friend for a while too? Maybe someone else who was also there, knows this person?

More ideas on how to find people by first name:

• If you know where the person works, look up and call the persons employer to ask if they could help. Either the receptionist will transfer you or offer the first and last names for you to choose from, or the automated system will offer a company directory.

• If you know what school your friend graduated from, try to find some yearbooks from around the year the person might have graduated and look through them.

• Use the reverse phone lookup utility, if you have a phone number.
  Like the Reverse Phone Detective. But then again, if you have a phone number, you could also just call the person :)

To find people by first name is not that easy, so you have to be creative.

Maybe you could put up a "missed connections" ad in the local newspaper or at Craigslist, with the persons first name, the place where you met and the date...
