Free People Search Engines - Which one is the best free people finder?

There are some free people finders out there. Some are ok, some are not so good. Below I tell you which ones I recommend.

Some free people search engines have a reputation of having outdated information, so I understand you don't want to use those.

So, you could check if there are many consumer complaints on the people finder you are thinking of using, before you start your search. You can for ex. search for complaints here: Ripoffreport.com

You could try the old fashioned free way to find people. And that is to search for your old friends name with quotation marks, on Google.

One good people finder, is the Yahoo people search. So, you could try to find people on Yahoo with their free people finder. More about it here:

Many times online people finders will not have the information we are looking for though.

I asked Private Investigator Julian Tanase what else we can do when looking for someone.

- Can you give the readers some tips on how to start their own people search?

"Make sure that you specify to all people you are talking to that you are looking for this person and why.

Start inquiries within the family and with distant relatives. More than often, some helpful details or at least a former address is known by the family.

Sometimes, searching for lost people can trigger unknown or unpleasant reactions by other people that know or knew this person. Just make sure you explain what the search means to you, what the person means to you and most important, that the search is not related to revenge or any unlawful purposes. And you may have to deal with non-responsive individuals. You just have to understand this and move on.

Do not engage yourself from the start in paying for investigative services. Most of the time, you can find the person you seek very easily or within acceptable terms for both your pocket and time. Leave the private investigator option for when all your efforts were in vain, and both the necessity of finding the lost one and the importance of your inquiry (legacy, inheritance, adoption, etc) is an emergency".
